I have been a guitar player and drummer for many years, but when it comes to playing live in bands, I always find myself behind the kit. For this reason I have a lot of experience listening to a guitar player's tone from a 3rd party perspective, which is a great place to learn about guitar tone.
Throughout the years I have learned that a guitar player’s tone is crucial to the dynamic success of a band, and the emotional reward of the players in it. When I have played with guitar players who have good tone, both my ability and enjoyment level increase. I am more capable of writing to an original song, meeting the vibe of a cover song, and finding the pocket. Far too often in my life I have played with bad guitar tone. In this case my cymbals get washed out and my drums don’t have punch. I overexert myself, my ears get fatigued, and my enjoyment decreases. When I began to research and develop Freda cabinets' design, I thought not only about the guitar player, but the other members of the band, the audience, the venue, and how you transport your gear to the venue. All these factors have been considered in building what I believe is a tonally outstanding, and extremely portable guitar cabinet.
You can expect a lot from your Freda cab. First, it is hand-built in the USA using American birch ply, American made tolex, jacks, and speakers. Our unique POWERSOUND design gives you big tone in an extremely easy to transport package. Imagine getting the tone and power of a 2x12 or 4x12 in a 35lb. 1x12! I know it's hard to believe, but it's true, in fact I personally guarantee it. You can also expect great tone.. big, full clean tones, and tight, punchy distortion. It's the best of both closed and open-back cabinets, but even better.
When you play a Freda Cab on its own you will be impressed, but when you play with the rest of the band, record in the studio, or mic up at live shows, you will truly understand. And you’ll smile. That is why I started this company and that’s what we’re about.
